Following the Event Home pilot, we learned from organizers what worked and didn’t work well about the event creation process.

The feedback from the organizers in the pilot gave us better insight into the event planning process

We were also able identify issues specific to ticketed and non-ticketed events, and at which points organizers needed coaching

Focusing on organizer tooling

The emergent themes from the feedback and learnings from the pilot were that organizers are willing to put in the work as long as they feel heard and are provided with the tools to create the event.

A lot of planning for the event happens off-Meetup so giving organizers the flexibility to figure those details out as they go is key. Here is what the team decided to focus on for the new scheduler:

  • Coaching

  • Ease of use

  • Structure

  • Management & control

  • Community building

  • Repeatable success

Organizer Beta

Here’s the video of the live organizer beta including the new event scheduler, and the organizer hub to manage the events. The beta was launched in June 2020 via a blog post and a Meetup Live event where organizers could join a waitlist.

The UX and product explorations that led to this release are below.
